Barca fan names at least 3 strong reasons why people should stop making victim out of Riqui Puig

"It's come to my attention that far too many people are too quick to make a victim out of Riqui," Reddit user @SurpriseNo5399 has posted.

"By this, I mean that they're too quick to say that 'X manager has Y bias against him'.

"I've seen this when it came to De La Fuente, Ernesto Valverde, Quique Setien and Ronald Koeman. Apparently, everyone has an agenda against Riqui, but these claims are never justified by anything other than 'oh but he doesn't play him'.

"Like what criteria could they all use against him? Take Koeman for example:

"1. Age isn't the cause for Pedri, Dest and Ilaix who are all playing, and while Ansu was here, he did too.

"2. Physicality isn't the cause, you can just look at Pedri and how similar he is to the guy.

"3. Being from La Masia also isn't the cause, just look at Mingueza, Ilaix (who the fans dunk on because of Riqui), and again, Ansu when he had the chance.

"It can't be that everyone is wrong about Riqui. Maybe one manager, but not everyone at the same time (bar Pimienta).

"This results in everyone, even the president, turning him into a victim of the system, and everyone at the same time acting as though Riqui is this perfect infallible player that's capable of winning any game regardless of the situation which is anything but correct.

"I cared a lot about him, but gradually the 'activism', if I can call it that, became too much for me.

"Pedri is better, Ilaix has been said to have a higher ceiling, De Jong is untouchable in the XI, and Riqui is anything but a defensive midfielder. The only times any manager plays him are in low-risk matches, when everyone else is injured, or in that very special Arthur case, transferred."

Riqui Puig is considered by many as Barcelona's next big thing but Ronald Koeman doesn't favour the La Masia graduate much.

The 21-year-old has only been given a total of 561 minutes of playing time across all competitions in the 2020/21 season.

Barcelona's president Joan Laporta believes a lot in Riqui Puig and has high hopes for him, Catalunya Radio report. The official is said to love the player a lot and consider him a part of Barca's heritage.

As for Puig himself, he sees his future at Camp Nou and wants to continue at the club. However, he'd like to play more regularly next season even if he gets only a few minutes per game.

In the 2020/21 season, Riqui played just 581 minutes across 24 games for Barca, recording a goal. The 21-year-old started in only four games, though, and played full 90 minutes on one occasion only.

'Iniesta wasn't a starter until 24': What Pep Guardiola reportedly told Riqui Puig on golf course

Joan Laporta, Pep Guardiola and plenty of other football heavyweights have taken part in a golf tournament in Mallorca.

Riqui Puig was one of the invited VIP guests.

As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, Guardiola told Riqui the following.

"The job of coaches and players is never easy. Iniesta wasn't a starter at Barca until he was 24 or 25. I know you're strong and it's about pushing, moving forward.

"Barca and [Manchester] City players have little to complain about because they are very lucky, they just have to keep working because surely the reward will come to them

"If you're determined to do it, football will always give you what you deserve," Pep concluded.

Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman has decided to give Riqui Puig more first-team chances next season, it is said. Last term, the 21-year-old accumulated just 561 minutes of play across all competitions.
