Ousmane Dembele will undergo surgery on his knee on June 28 in Turku, Finland, Barcelona confirmed on Wednesday.

Lasse Lempainen will perform the operation under the 'watchful eye' of Barca's medical services. The club will issue a public statement following the procedure.

The 24-year-old dislocated the biceps tendon in his right knee in France's 1-1 draw with Hungary in their Euro 2020 group-stage clash on Saturday.

Barcelona have officially confirmed that Ousmane Dembele will have to undergo surgery on his knee after picking up an injury at the 2020 Euros.

"Following tests this morning on player Ousmane Dembele, it has been confirmed that he has a dislocation of the biceps tendon in his right knee that will require surgical treatment," the statement from the club reads.

Barca add that the Frenchman is ruled out for the rest of the 2020 Euros. The date and time of the anticipated surgery are yet to be revealed.

The Catalans also don't specify how long it will take for Dembele to recover but reports claim that he could be sidelined for up to four months.

Dembele opts for surgery, to miss up to 4 months — multiple reports

Following further tests at Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele has chosen to undergo surgery, L'Equipe report. As a result, the 24-year-old will be out for up to four months.

The reliable TV3 also report that Dembouz will have to go under the knife, adding that he will miss at least three months of action.

Ousmane picked up a knee injury during France's recent Euro 2020 match against Hungary. He was subbed on in the second half and had to be subbed back after 30 minutes.

The player's contract at Barca expires in 2022 and the club wants to extend his deal. As per recent reports, Dembele was willing to renew his contract before the injury.
