How much money Barca could potentially get from selling 'deadwood' off to finance new transfers

A long summer awaits Barcelona as they need to offload multiple players in order to balance their salary budget. But besides helping with the wages bill, the summer departures could be used to finance some big-name arrivals. So, here's how much the Catalans could earn by simply offloading the deadwood.

Carles Alena — €10m

The 23-year-old is actually valued at €15m by Transfermarkt. However, with his contract ending already in 2022 and Barca actively looking to sell him, it's unlikely for the Catalans to get anything above €10m.

Miralem Pjanic — €20m

When he only joined Blaugrana, the midfielder was valued at €50m. But a year spent on the bench had a major negative impact on his value, now estimated at just €20m. Considering his age and massive wages, it's hard to imagine anyone paying anything above the market value for Pjanic.

Martin Braithwaite — €15m

The Dane's good performances at the 2020 Euros will definitely make him a coveted asset on the market. Although not quite the €18m Barca paid for Braithwaite back in 2020, €15m would be a good price on someone valued at just €9m,

Neto — €15m

The Brazilian is 31 years old, which is far from being old for a goalkeeper. Although he didn't play much at Barca, Neto looked solid almost every time when given the chance, so there should be plenty of suitors for him.

It's now clear that the Catalans will never get back the money they invested in Coutinho. Even €30m, which is the player's market value, would be a good deal on a player that missed the majority of the 2020/21 season through injury.

Clement Lenglet — €30m

A bad season doesn't necessarily make Lenglet a bad player, especially considering that he turned 26 only recently. With a contract until 2026 and on fairly low wages, Barca can hope to get at least €5m above the market value on the centre-back.

Samuel Umtiti — €2m

With 'chronic injuries' being his middle name, getting an actual fee on Umtiti would be considered a miracle. Although the Catalans are ready to let him leave for free, maybe there's a petrol club somewhere ready to pay a small fee on Big Sam.

Moussa Wague — €3m

Young and promising, Wague would be a solid addition to any middle-table club across the five top leagues. However, a full season missed due to injury won't go unnoticed should any team show their interest in the 22-year-old.

Total: €125m

Already earned: €30m (Junior Firpo — €15m, Jean-Clair Todibo — €8.5m, Sergio Akieme — €3.5m, Konrad de la Fuente — €3m)

Overall total: €155m
