Ex-Bayern president opens up on why Alaba's 'dream' Barcelona move fell through

"Alaba once told me: 'My dream is still to play in Barcelona one day'. Then I told him: 'Do you want to negotiate with the president or with the insolvency administrator? Barca is no longer the role model for us'," former Bayern Munich president and current board member Uli Hoeness has told Express.

By the 'insolvency administrator', Hoeness possibly means Josep Maria Bartomeu who was the main man responsible for the club's financial crisis of the past years.

David Alaba was linked to Barcelona for a few years before eventually signing for Real Madrid for free. Now, the Austrian is one of the key players under Carlo Ancelotti.
