Stoichkov is known for his candid remarks about all things Barca. Earlier this year, he said that Barcelona play '

As a reminder, Laporta was initially against Xavi's arrival as head coach. Following 

 dismissal, he now seems to be in favour of it.

Laporta reportedly set to travel to Qatar to close Xavi signing later this week

 has already taken place, the reliable Javi Miguel of Diario AS says. 

However, the Qatari club's owner wants a face-to-face meeting with Blaugrana's president. That's why Joan Laporta, accompanied by vice-president Rafael Yuste and Director of football Mateu Alemany will travel to Doha this Thursday.

It is also reported that Xavi had agreed on his departure with Al Sadd last week. His release clause is above €1m but the Catalans won't have to pay it if they agree to pay a friendly in Doha in the future.

As per previous reports, Xavi could be announced as Barca's coach on Friday, November 5. 

However, he will be officially presented and take charge of the team only after the 

 game on November 6. His first match in charge is supposed to be the derby against 

Friendly match against Barca in Doha and one more condition named by Al Sadd for Xavi release

 to schedule a friendly with them in Qatar before they can allow Xavi to leave. 

The Qatar Champions would also want Barcelona president Joan Laporta to fly to Doha and complete the negotiation in person, as per Mundo Deportivo. 

 this year, but they want a gesture of good will from the Spanish giants. 

Xavi's deal with Al Sadd expires in 2023 - which means they could demand a €1m compensation. 

It's also been reported that Xavi will take a pay-cut to become Barcelona manager.

People just find it easy to talk and criticize others but if they were in that position they'd have done worse.. We think it's easy being a leader or a president of a huge club, I bet we don't know what being on that seat really means. Laporta might not be perfect and might have not really given us what we expect of him but I bet he is having sleepless nights trying to figure out what's best for the club even if it takes sacking all the legends and keeping false promises..
