"It is incredible to be here again. Two years ago I said it was my last year and I am here again. They asked me when was I going to retire, but I am in Paris and very happy to be here," Leo Messi said after winning the 2021 Ballon d'Or, as quoted by Diario Sport.

"I really want to continue fighting for new challenges. I don't know when the moment of goodbye will come, because I enjoy football a lot. Thanks to my teammates from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain and the coaching staff of the Argentine team.

"I won this trophy before, but I always had a feeling that something was missing. This year, I have achieved the dream I wanted so much after many years of searching for it. This award is for what we did in Copa America, and I thank my teammates.

"It is a special night because my wife, my children, my brothers, my parents, my nephews, my brothers-in-law are here."

It is now the seventh time that Messi wins the Ballon d'Or. No player has claimed it more than five times.
