One year ago Koeman identified 5 youngsters as 'future of Barca' -- where are they now?

It's been one year since former Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman named five youngsters who will be the future of Barcelona.

Here's a look at those players and where they are now.

Riqui Puig

Puig is still at Barcelona, but he's by no means looking like the future of the club. Koeman himself benched Puig until he got sacked.

Under Xavi, the midfielder is at the bottom of the midfield pecking order, with teenagers Pedri and Gavi rated far ahead of him.

Puig has only started one match since Xavi arrived last November.

Koeman was wrong!

Ilaix Moriba

Moriba was the breakout star of Koeman's tenure. The Dutchman gave him regular minutes as opposed to Puig.

However, Moriba's agents saw that as an opportunity to milk Barca for higher wages, and the player was sold to Leipzig.

Today, Moriba is back in La Liga with Valencia where he's yet to light any fires.

Koeman was wrong again!

Ronald Araujo

Araujo is still at Barca and is arguably among the best defenders in the league.

The Uruguayan is yet to sign a contract extension with the club, with interests from Manchester United growing.

Koeman was probably right!

Oscar Mingueza

Mingueza is still at Barcelona, but really can't be considered a first team regular.

The defender is among the players who could leave the club, either on loan or even sold at the end of the season.

Koeman may be wrong again

Pedri

Pedri has been a key player in Barcelona's midfield, even during Koeman's time and now with Xavi.

The 19-year-old has even found his scoring boots this season with two goals for the club this season.

Definitely the present and the future. Koeman was absolutely right!
