'I was whistled at Camp Nou. I know what it means': Fabregas on PSG fans booing Messi

"At the end of the day, we are talking about a player that has just arrived and PSG has never seen such a player. They have never had a player of Messi's calibre in their entire history," Cesc Fabregas has told Marca when asked about Paris Saint-Germain's whistling towards Leo Messi.

"It's better to be grateful and support him, rather than crush him. He is a player who, if not this season, could give you great joy next year. Basically, it is what everyone wants.

"For me, Messi is the best player in history. At least the best I've seen and played with. People can talk different things, but what I saw was exceptional.

"Booing someone is very ugly. Camp Nou also whistled at me, I know what that means. It creates a moment of tension so that the players realise that they should have done better. But honestly, I think that during the game, they should support their players.

"Booing someone when his name is announced at the stadium is fine, perfect, but what Messi and Neymar went through during the game, every time they touched the ball... I repeat, it's very ugly. Honestly, do you think they didn't want to win against Real Madrid [in the Champions League]?" he concluded.

Leo Messi and Neymar were booed by Paris Saint-Germain supporters before and during the Ligue 1 game against Bordeaux. This happened just a few days after the Parisians got eliminated by Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16.

Messi has scored 7 goals and provided 11 assists for PSG this season.
