Barcelona could've signed Luis Diaz instead of Ferran Torres: why it didn't happen

Barcelona could've signed Luis Diaz instead of Ferran Torres in January, reports ESPN.

The Catalans offered €35m for the Colombian star but Porto rejected the bid. Besides, the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, personally wanted his client to join Liverpool.

The winger ended up signing for Liverpool for €47m which is €8m less than what Barca paid for Ferran Torres. However, as our users note in the comments, Blaugrana are yet to pay Manchester City a single penny for the Torres deal, with the first payment reportedly coming this summer.

Liverpool fans seem more impressed with Diaz than Cules with Ferran – even though the Colombian has produced 11 goal contributions compared to Ferran's 12.
