Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly has told Manchester United he wants to leave in search of a new challenge.
This comes after a season in which the Red Devils failed to qualify for the Champions League and looked unimpressive in the Premier League most of the time.
Most fans believe this is not the way the real GOAT should behave in such a situation – the Leo Messi comparison is asking for itself once again.
"The later part of their career has really shown how far apart Messi and Ronaldo are in quality," Edmund tweets.
"While Messi stayed with Barca's youngsters and led them to a trophy in his last season, Ronaldo came and took the most expensive squad in Europe to the Europa League and is about to flee.
"For years, the media tried to endlessly paint a picture of Ronaldo loving challenges and Messi loving his 'comfort zone'. Now, whenever things get difficult for Ronaldo, he leaves. Left Real Madrid to Juve in a bid to prove 'I've done it in three countries'. He barely improved them.
"Messi humbled himself and took a secondary role at PSG, doing everything he can to let young Mbappe shine and take center stage. Ronaldo's ambition won't let him do that at Man United. Play second fiddle to the likes of Sancho, Rashford, Greenwood? That will not happen," the fan adds.
Can't agree more with Edmund. Hearing stories about Ronaldo's will to 'take a new challenge' is nothing but nonsense these days – he is simply looking for clubs where he could win big things with no real difficulties.
Leo Messi has always been more of a team player – even when it didn't really benefit him.
