Barcelona will face Olot on Wednesday in their first pre-season friendly. The Catalans returned to work only recently, so many players are still unavailable for selection.
However, this means that Xavi could use the opportunity to experiment a bit. Here are some of the options.
Option 1
Barcelona XI: Inaki Pena - Dest, Chadi Riad, Marmol, Balde - Nico, Kessie, Pedri - Abde, Aubameyang, Ansu Fati.
Inaki could get the chance to prove himself to Xavi, as he is expected to stay as the second-choice goalkeeper for the pre-season.
The options in defence are the most limited, so the coach could bet on the players that have the most experience.
It has also been reported that Nico will be tried in Busquets's position, and the Olot game might be where it starts. He could be paired with Kessie and Pedri who both add a lot defensively.
In attack, we might see some familiar faces in Abde (who hasn't been promoted yet), as well as first-team players Ansu Fati and Aubameyang.
Option 2
Barcelona XI: Ter Stegen - Dest, Aranau Casas, Marmol, Balde - Pjanic, Pablo Torre, Pedri - Collado, Aubameyang, Akhomach.
Ter Stegen is also an option to start. Considering the backline, we might need extra safety in the goal. In addition, youngster Arnau Casas could start ahead of Chadi Riad.
In midfield, Miralem Pjanic over Nico would provide more control. And if Kessie isn't ready to play from the start just yet (he joined training later than his new teammates), newcomer Pablo Torre could be given the nod.
As for the attack, Alex Collado could be trusted since Xavi is set to keep him for the season. Ilias Akhomach, meanwhile, could replace Fati if the latter is not in top form yet.
