Explained: What happens if criminality allegations are true in contracts of De Jong and 3 others

It was revealed on Monday that Barcelona discovered evidence of criminality in the contract renewals for Frenkie de Jong, Gerard Pique, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Clement Lenglet.

If it turns out that the contracts are indeed illegal they will be automatically voided and the terms rescinded, per ESPN.

Thus, Ter Stegen's contract will end in 2023, not 2025. De Jong's deal will end in 2024, not 2026 and Lenglet's will also end in 2024, not 2025. As for Pique, he already agreed on another pay cut.

What's more, the salaries of all the aforementioned players will also be slashed and reverted back to the previous agreement. They could also be made to pay back some of the extra earnings from the 'illegal' agreement.
