Gil Manzano achieves rare feat after sending off Lewandowski in Osasuna clash

Spanish referee Gil Manzano has now sent off three Barca super forwards in his career: Leo Messi, Neymar and Robert Lewandowski. He is the first referee to do so.

It was Gil Manzano who gave Messi his only red card at the club level, sending Leo off in the Supercopa 2021 final against Athletic Bilbao for 'violent conduct'. Barca lost the game 3-2.

Neymar saw the red light in 2017 in the 2-0 defeat to Malaga — Gil Manzano showed a straight red card for a nasty challenge. Interestingly, Neymar had already been booked in this game but Manzano showed him a straight red, not a second yellow.

But the Barca player who’s suffered the most from Gil Manzano is Dani Alves as the ref has sent the Brazilian off twice in his career.
