It was reported back in the day that Leo Messi and Luis Enrique didn't get along too well. However, the former Barcelona captain has recently revealed that there was just one little incident between them which the parties solved quickly.
"I had just returned from my holiday in Argentina and we were meant to play on January 2 or 3, I don't remember well. I ended up being benched for that game and we had a talk that left a bad taste in my mouth for a while," Messi has told Movistar. (h/t Mundo Deportivo)
"But we soon returned to having a spectacular relationship and it was like that until the last day. When he decided to leave, we told him to stay, not to leave, that we were doing well as a team."
That little incident happened after the game against Real Sociedad in Luis Enrique's first season at the club. Xavi reportedly served as an intermediary between the parties and helped them solve their conflict.
At the end of that season, Barca won their second ever treble and Messi and Luis Enrique celebrated together.
