OFFICIAL: Barca set to appeal against Lewandowski's three-match ban

Barcelona have confirmed their desire to appeal against the three-match ban given to Robert Lewandowski for his dismissal against Osasuna.

The club wrote in a statement: “FC Barcelona will put their case to the Appeals Committee in view of the three game ban handed out to Robert Lewandowski by the Disciplinary Committee. The Polish striker received the suspension after being sent off for a second bookable offence in the 2-1 win over Osasuna in Pamplona in La Liga.”

Lewandowski is only viable to receive a one-game suspension for his red card against Osasuna, which was due to two yellow cards he received.

However, referee Gil Manzano has complained that he felt the Polish striker disrespected him with a nose gesture after getting sent off. That is why two more games were added to his suspension.

Barca reportedly feel they have enough evidence through images to prove that wasn’t the case and he was only making the gesture toward Xavi.

It’ll now be upon them to prove themselves to the Appeals Committee and get Lewandowski’s ban reduced to just a game before the World Cup break is over.
