"Barca win with one-goal margin and go through [the Copa del Rey last 32], making a fool of themselves, but others [Real Madrid] win with one-goal margin too and go through – and people say that was good of them," Xavi has told the media at the latest presser.
This was the Barca boss' response to a (possibly pro-Madrid) journalist who aimed a dig at Xavi for 'almost slipping up' in the Intercity game.
Real Madrid beat Cacereno from the fourth division 1-0, Barca had to cope with Intercity from the third division. After Madrid's game, Madridistas mostly blamed poor pitch quality and the opposition's style of play for the unimpressive final result.
Of course these same people - as well as some media outlets - made fun of Barca when they won 4-3 the following day!
Unlike Real Madrid, Barcelona were in the lead for 70 minutes out of 90 they played. Xavi is right here, those double standards make no sense.
