Eric Garcia hasn't started a game for Barca in almost 3 months, reason revealed
In an article for Mundo Deportivo, reporter Gabriel Sans notes the "strange disappearance" of Eric Garcia.
The defender hasn't started a game for Barcelona since the 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on October 26.
In Barca's last six matches, Garcia only played 60 minutes in the cup match against third-tier Intercity. Xavi seems to prefer playing Marcos Alonso at centre-back ahead of Eric if the starting options aren't available.
At the same time, the club insists that there is nothing wrong with Garcia, he isn't injured and there's no problem with his attitude. It's only the fact that his competitors are doing a better job on the pitch and in training.
This comes as a bit of a surprise since the 22-year-old used to be a regular starter for Xavi in his first months at the club.
