The match against Girona became the 100th official one for Pedri at Barcelona. The youngster was gifted a commemorative shirt in the dressing room and took a picture with his teammates.
Jules Kounde, apparently, wasn't there for the group photo so he congratulated the midfielder on Instagram.
"Congratulations, mister banana. Let's see if you wait for me before taking the picture next time," the Frenchman said in his Instagram stories.
You may be confused by Pedri's nickname, Mr Banana. The reason behind it is rather simple -- the 20-year-old comes from the Canary Islands, the region in Spain known for its banana export.
In fact, the Canary Islands export bananas not only to mainland Spain but to other regions of the world, so you may have eaten a banana from there at least once in your lifetime.
It seems like Pedri doesn't have a problem with the nickname and was amused by it.
