Barcelona and Inaki Pena were in advanced talks over a new deal until 2026 but the goalkeeper has put the negotiations on "stand by", Mundo Deportivo's reliable Fernando Polo and Jordi Batalla report.
The 23-year-old understands that it will be difficult to get regular playing time at Camp Nou after Marc-Andre ter Stegen's resurgence. This season, Pena has played just three matches -- a meaningless encounter with Viktoria Plzen and against third-tier outfits Intercity and Ceuta in the cup.
At the same time, Pena has attracted a lot of attention on the market. Real Betis are keen to replace 40-year-old Claudio Bravo with Inaki if he arrives on a free. Galatasaray, where the keeper played on loan last season, showed interest in him in January.
Despite this, Pena has not ruled out an extension at Barca.
