"I made a substitution to him [Haaland] because I didn't want to break the record for Messi in the FA Cup. I try to punish my players. This is my intention. I know he doesn't care, he's so positive... He never complains," Pep Guardiola told the media after Erling Haaland scored 3 against Burnley in the FA Cup.

A few days ago, Haaland netted five against RB Leipzig in the Champions League last 16. Some people believed Guardiola subbed him off in the second half to keep Leo Messi's record alive.

The Argentine bagged five goals against Bayer Leverkusen in 2012 – the most in a single knockout game of the Champions League.

Mr. Timothy, it's not about Haaland, it was a message for the haters. Some fans always judge and think negatively, that's why Pep Guardiola is making jest of them. He's trying to save his superstars from fatigue and injuries, but some haters are saying that, he subbed Haaland against RB Leipzig on Tuesday so that he won't be able to break Lionel Messi's 5 goals in a single champions league game against Bayern Leverkusen 2012. Just imagine that.
