'Not like what previous board did': Barca chief fires dig at Bartomeu as he talks Lewandowski pay rise

Barcelona vice-president for economic matters Eduard Romeu has confirmed that Robert Lewandowski will earn more next season compared to what he currently gets. The Poland international reportedly pockets around €24m per year.

"Yes, but it is very minimal," Romeu said when asked about the salary increase for the striker, as quoted by Marca.

"It is not like what the previous board did."

Romeu refers to Josep Bartomeu, who left Barcelona in a financial mess the club is dealing with now.

The former president approved reckless contracts with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Frenkie de Jong, Samuel Umtiti, Gerard Piqué and Jordi Alba. Their wages increased each year and it became a big burden for the club.
