Mascherano confirms Di Maria won't play for Argentina at summer Olympics – is Messi out too?

In an exclusive interview with TyC Sports, Argentina youth coach Javier Mascherano has confirmed that Angel Di Maria's participation in the 2024 summer Olympic Games is 100% ruled out.
The former Barcelona man had earlier revealed his intention to call up three senior players to the under-23 team, naming Emiliano Martinez, Leo Messi and Angel Di Maria as his candidates to go to Paris.
However, Di Maria has declined the call, firmly deciding to retire from international football after the Copa America. "Take someone who actually deserves it instead," he told Mascherano.
As for Leo and Dibu, their chances seem slim, with the calendar being the culprit – there are only 10 days between the Copa America final and the start of the Olympics.
