'He said it to me': Santi Cazorla finally explains why Xavi has become so aggressive as coach

"Xavi surprised me. As a player he never raised his voice and now... " Santi Cazorla has told The Guardian, laughing.

"The first day [at Al Sadd] we were losing. I watched him throw boots about, swearing, shouting. I'm thinking: 'Someone's swapped the guy I knew for someone else.'

"I asked later: 'Xavi, what happened to you today?!' He says: 'I've changed completely. If you don't, the dressing room doesn't respect you.'

Xavi is surely a different beast as a manager – his yellow-card record is incomparable to the one he had as a player. Besides, he never even picked up a straight red card in his player career; he's got a few this season alone.

Now we know why he's doing all that – to gain some extra respect in the locker room. His Barca experience proves he has succeeded at it.
