Not only money: three reasons why Barcelona should let go of Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo

Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo joined Barcelona on loan last summer, in a desperate attempt to find good players for a reasonable amount of money.

However, at the end of the season, Barca Universal listed three reasons why Barcelona should not retain Felix and Cancelo, apart from the money and registration issues. Here they are:

- Defensive Fragility

These two are fantastic in attack, but have pretty big defensive problems. Cancelo sometimes forgets he is actually a defender and shows his lack of defensive awareness and positioning, while Felix often fails to both press the opponent after losing the ball and track back to help his full-back.

- Consistently Inconsistent

Both of them show the lack of consistency. Felix alternates unbelievably good performances with grey ones, while Cancelo sometimes fails to help in attack enough to forget about his defensive problems.

- Changing Priorities

This is simple - judging by the results, it certainly won’t hurt Barcelona to look for better and more accountable options elsewhere. Cancelo can be replaced by Alex Valle on the left-back position, while Nico WIlliams could replace Joao Felix on the left wing for the same amount of money. Moreover, there are some more critical positions that need reinforcement - for example, pivot position.

Even though nobody would really complain if Barca keep both Joaos, these arguments for letting them go seem really solid.
