Report suggests Barcelona sign Wojciech Szczesny after Ter Stegen's injury
Barcelona have been hit with a major setback as their first-choice goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, suffered a serious injury during Monday’s 5-1 victory over Villarreal in La Liga.
Spanish journalist Joan Fontes suggested that Barcelona could turn to former Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who recently announced his retirement. Fontes believes Robert Lewandowski, a close friend of Szczęsny, could convince the Polish keeper to come out of retirement and join Barcelona for the rest of the season.
Szczesny had retired earlier this summer after terminating his contract with Juventus, despite having one year left. He had received offers, including from Saudi clubs, but decided to step away from football.
Barcelona’s win over Villarreal moves them to 18 points, putting them four points clear at the top of the table ahead of Real Madrid. However, replacing ter Stegen remains a pressing concern.
