"I'm very confident he [Lionel Messi] will be opening our new stadium in 2026," Inter Miami president Jorge Mas has told the media.

"I'll be sitting with Leo at some point in the off-season. I'm optimistic that as long as Leo's health holds up, we'll be seeing him in pink," he added.

Earlier, it was suggested that Lionel Messi could come back to Barcelona for a short spell after his contract with Inter Miami expires in December 2025.

The Argentine superstar has finished his season with 29 goals and 27 assists in 37 games for club and country, also winning the 2024 Copa America.
