Man City and England forward Raheem Sterling has hinted that he would be open to moving abroad as he's contemplating a future away from his current club.
He said, as quoted by the Guardian: "If there was the option to go somewhere else for more game time I would be open to it...
"As an English player all I know is the Premier League and I’ve always thought: 'You know, maybe one day I’d love to play abroad and see how I would come up against that challenge.'
"I’m not a person that’s going to complain," Sterling added when asked about his situation at Man City.
"I’ve not tried to make it a bigger deal than it actually is. I get on with my work, do what I need to do, and I’m just raring to go. [Ready to be] playing football matches regularly. Scoring goals regularly.
"If football for me is not at a certain standard I’m not really at my happiest. If I want my happiness at a certain level I need to be playing football. I need to be scoring goals. And enjoying myself."
Sterling has lost a regular starting place at Man City this season, starting only three games in the Premier League and the Champions League combined. There are rumours about a conflict with Pep Guardiola as well.
The 26-year-old's contract expires in 2023, and the talks over a contract extension have stalled. Man City were willing to let him go in the summer but received no suitable offer.
