Roberto Martinez: 'Hazard's situation in Madrid has become even more desperate, let's be honest'

Speaking to Belgian outlet HLN, Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez said: "I won't worry until Eden Hazard stops enjoying football.

"But his situation in Madrid has become even more desperate, let's be honest. Medically he is fine and we know he does extra work to stay in shape.

"He wants to do everything possible to reach his highest level again. It's an unusual situation. We hoped it wouldn't go like this.

"But this is football. I have seen that he is medically well. He is completely in form. Eden wants to do as much as possible to reach his highest level."

Things have gone from bad to worse for Hazard this season with the Belgian currently nowhere near Real Madrid's starting XI despite being fully fit.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has recently opened the door for the 30-year-old to leave the club in January amid reported interest from oil-rich Newcastle United.
