'Whenever they want to sign a player, they sell oil barrels': Barcelona director slams PSG's transfer methods

Speaking about how unfair PSG’s transfer business has been, FC Barcelona sporting director Mateu Almany said: “Whenever they want to sign a new player, they sell some oil barrels and that's it.

“The problem is that they are asking us to compete with clubs that no one has control over. Not even UEFA. That is why the Super League was started to maintain a budgetary balance in all clubs, not as it happens now.”

PSG had a sensational summer transfer window earlier this year, signing the likes of Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos and Gini Wijnaldum on free deals.

They spent around £70m in transfer fees in the summer, but the fact that they’re able to pay massive wages to their star-studded squad without breaching financial fairplay rules is questionable.

Barca have themselves been hit by PSG over the last few years, losing both Messi and Neymar to them in shocking fashion.
