The Ligue 1 game between Marseille and Lyon had to be suspended after 6 minutes of action after Dimitri Payet was struck by a filled water bottle.
A Lyon supporter from the stands threw the bottle while Payet geared up to take a corner – with the projectile hitting him in the head.
The Frenchman went down to the ground in pain and the referee decided to suspend the game after witnessing this.
Payet got medical treatment before watching back to the dressing room with his teammates.
Incidentally, 3 out of Marseille’s 7 away league games this season has seen at least one of their players struck by a projectile from opposition fans.
