A glaring mistake by FIFA has been called out by Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who is one of the five nominees for the Men's Goalkeeper of the Year award.
The following picture was shared by FIFA on their Instagram page, where all the nominees are wearing the national team shirts. All except Mendy, that is.
Mendy, who recently delivered a strong statement against racism in football, called out FIFA for the error and shared it on Instagram.
"2 days I'm looking at this post and trying to understand why but I still didn't get it. Is it normal I'm the only one without the jersey of my country Senegal. Is it fair for Senegal?", Mendy wrote.
The goalkeeper then highlighted the same photo tweaked by an unknown designer and wrote: "Thanks to the guy who has done this! @FIFA was it so difficult?"
It's appalling that an organisation that promotes diversity in football has made an error like this.
Kudos to Mendy for using his platform for voicing his opinions on things that matter.
