Marc Overmars told to pay back contract renewal bonus received from Ajax before quitting

Ajax have confirmed that their former sporting director Marc Overmars must pay back the €1.25m bonus he received when signing a contract extension in January.

The Dutchman was forced to quit the club last month after being exposed for sending explicit pictures to female employees in the club.

Overmars must now pay back the bonus he received from Ajax as there is ‘no redundancy scheme’ in place.

Ajax are yet to announce a new sporting director since Overmars’ left and have been left in an embarrassing situation by his exit.
