Poland, Sweden and Czech Republic react to FIFA placing sanctions on Russia

FIFA placed some sanctions on Russia ahead of the Qatar World Cup qualifiers by confirming no game can take place in their country and they’ll have to operate as ‘Football Union of Russia’.

Their opponents in the World Cup qualifying playoffs for next month, Poland, Sweden and Czech Republic have been left unimpressed with the sanctions.

The Polish FA’s head, Cezary Kulesza said: “Today’s FIFA decision is totally unacceptable. We are not interested in participating in this game of appearances.

“Our stance remains intact: Polish National Team will NOT PLAY with Russia, no matter what the name of the team is.”

The Czech Republic FA also stated: “The Czech FA executive committee, staff members and players of the national team agreed it’s not possible to play against the Russian national team in the current situation, not even on the neutral venue.

“We all want the war to end as soon as possible.”

The Swedish FA have also reportedly confirmed that they have no plans of playing against Russia after their military invasion of Ukraine.
