Speaking about how Gareth Bale has adapted to his new surroundings at Los Angeles FC, Ilie Sanchez told AS: “Gareth speaks to me in Spanish.
“I am the only Spaniard, but there is a lot of South American and Central American in the squad. And he just wants to speak Spanish with us.
“In fact, sometimes we speak to him in English and he answers us in Spanish! He is involved. The other day he went through the welcoming rite at the stadium cheering the fans on with the megaphone. We also did it to [Giorgio] Chiellini. He looks happy.”
Bale had a bad reputation during his time at Real Madrid for not being fluent in Spanish, with Spain’s praise often criticizing him for it. That’s why this revelation is that much more ironic.
The Welshman has made 3 appearances for LAFC so far, helping them win all three of them and scoring one goal.
