Speaking to Infobae, Mauricio Pochettino said: "I think if the call for a foul for Karim Benzema on Gianluigi Donnarumma had been reviewed in the VAR, we would be talking about something else, about the elimination of Real Madrid.
"But that was a trigger that gave Madrid a lot of belief, a different energy on their pitch and logically we made some kind of mistake. But this is football and it does not have to go beyond what is a football analysis.
"It is a game in which the luck factor and obviously the emotional factor have an influence, but I don't think they are such an obvious problem that you have to turn to a specialist in the, let's say, psychological section to work on."
Real Madrid came back from 1–0 down to beat Paris Saint-Germain 3–1 (3–2 on aggregate) in the Champions League Round of 16 last season.
Benzema scored a second-half hat-trick for Carlo Ancelotti's side but it has been claimed that the Frenchman fouled Donnarumma in the build-up to the first goal.
