Angel Di Maria in tears as he bids farewell to international career with Argentina
After winning it all with Argentina, Angel Di Maria has called it a day on his international career at the age of 36.
The iconic midfielder deserved a proper farewell in front of the home crowd, so the Argentina football federation made sure he got just that this Friday at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.
Although team captain Lionel Messi couldn’t be there in person, he still recorded a heartfelt message for his former teammate.
"I hope you enjoy this evening a lot with your family and loved ones. We’ve said everything we needed to say to each other. We shared so much, and who would have thought it would end this way? I’ll miss you a lot," he told El Fideo.
Di Maria was so moved by the message he couldn’t hold back tears.
