Ryan Babel runs out of words to describe Gini Wijnaldum's brilliance as a player and as a person

Former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel has explained what makes Georginio Wijnaldum such an amazing player and person.

"I have no words for Gini's performances and quality," the 33-year-old told the Reds' official website. "He's an incredible person. His energy is incredible, he has lungs for days. You can tell when he has the confidence, he's really unbeatable and very hard to play against.

"He's very complete – he can score goals, he can tackle, can defend, recover balls. Gini's development is also incredible.

"Gini is definitely a person who is not shy to give his opinion. He has very strong opinions and is very much loved in the team process. Especially in the national team, he's definitely one of the leaders and very important for us."

Wijnaldum joined Liverpool on 22 July 2016 from Newcastle for an initial £23 million with a further £2 million in conditional add-ons.

The Dutchman has been immense for the Reds. All in all, the 29-year-old has made 177 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and registering 16 assists.

Most importantly, Gini has won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup with the team.

This season, Wijnaldum has been as important as ever, playing 38 games across all competitions and scoring 5 goals.

The Netherlands international's contract at Anfield is set to expire on 30 June 2021. Both the player and the club are eager to extend the deal and the talks are ongoing.
