Reds right-back Anderson Arroyo believes his first-team Liverpool appearance not too far ahead

Liverpool right-back Anderson Arroyo believes he is not too far from registering his senior debut for the Reds.

Speaking to AS Colombia (h/t Sport Witness), the 20-year-old said: "Setting a date would be telling lies, but I don’t think it’s that far away.

"If I keep doing things well, I sacrifice myself and give myself more. When they give me the opportunity to be with them again, I’ll keep giving everything, and I’ll do things well.

"There are many people in Liverpool who believe in me, and if they do, I think I can do it. I see it very close."

This is a bold claim indeed, as realistically, the Colombian looks not an inch closer to the senior debut than he was back in 2018 when he arrived from Fortaleza CEIF.

Instead, he had to spend the last two years out on loan at Mallorca, Gent and FK Mladá Boleslav. And, to make things even worse, he failed to register a single senior game for those sides either.

Ironically, the moment when Anderson Arroyo came the closest to the debut at Liverpool was in the pre-season when goalkeeper Dan Atherton featured as a late sub in a friendly with Tranmere Rovers wearing Arroyo's shirt.
