Coutinho, Ings & more: What Liverpool XI based solely on departures from last 5 years would look like

The Liverpool of 2015 and the Liverpool of 2020 are two completely different teams - and the transformation has been very positive!

While Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards have created a team that is capable of beating anyone in football, the Reds have let go of a few good players who are enjoying great careers elsewhere.

Here, we take a look at what a team consisting solely of players who left Anfield in the last 5 years would look like (based on their current strength).

  • Defence: Simon Mignolet was never the best keeper we had but he was a loyal player who had his share of great moments for the club. Nathaniel Clyne was immense at his best and Alberto Moreno, while never the most reliable defender, is still the best left-back we've let go of since 2015.
  • Martin Skrtel enjoyed a better Liverpool career than Mamadou Sakho, but the latter still plays in the Premier League and had a standout season for us just before Klopp came. Dejan Lovren's inclusion is self-explanatory!
  • Midfield: Emre Can seems to have finally found his form at Dortmund after a bad spell at Juventus (why did he want to leave again?). Luis Alberto is a rare case of selling a player for cheap who is now thriving as he's become an excellent player for Lazio.
  • Philippe Coutinho, was, of course, arguably our best player before he left and he's becoming better again with Barcelona after a horrid first season.
  • Attack: Raheem Sterling was developed by Liverpool and although his departure hurt, no one can take away the progress he has made with Manchester City. Danny Ings is a Kop fan favourite and while injuries halted his Liverpool career, he's now one of the best strikers in the league and almost won the Golden Boot last season with Southampton!
  • Iago Aspas will always be remembered for that infamous corner against Chelsea in 2014, but he's become a beast back in La Liga with Celta de Vigo and deserves a spot on this list.

Anyone we missed? Let us know your team down below!
