'I’m really happy for Mama': Klopp responds to Sakho receiving apology from WADA over false doping allegations

"My initial thought was ‘finally!’" Jurgen Klopp said after hearing that Mamadou Sakho received an apology from WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) following a 30-day ban back in 2016 for consuming a banned substance (via Liverpool Echo).

"We all knew it for a long time already that Mama did nothing wrong. It was a massive, massive blow. Not only couldn’t he play the Europa League final, but he couldn’t play in the Euros as well if I’m not mistaken.

"I’m really happy for Mama that he got at least now the evidence that he did nothing wrong and it’s a very important thing. If you carry around the mark that you did doping, especially when you didn’t do it, that’s massive.

"So I’m really happy he’s freed of all of these things."

Sakho was playing for Liverpool at the time and was forced to miss our Europa League final and subsequently the Euros 2016 with France due to the ban - the centre-back was in the form of his life and while he still plays in the Premier League, his career suffered significant setbacks because of this ruling.
