Ozan Kabak might be available on a free transfer this summer, despite a reasonably impressive loan spell with Liverpool earlier this year.
According to German journalist Constantin Eckner who was speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Schalke struggle to find a new club for the centre-back.
After they were relegated from the Bundesliga, Schalke are unable to pay Kabak his wages, so they've offered him around to several clubs.
The talks with Liverpool led nowhere because the Reds have already signed Ibrahima Konate and have a surplus at centre-back. Clubs like Leicester and Crystal Palace have also opted against signing Kabak for a bargain fee.
That's the reason why Schalke are considering terminating his contract before the end of August so that he had time to find a new club.
This is a massive decline in value for Kabak after Liverpool passed on the opportunity to sign him on a permanent deal for £18m.
