The Athletic: Pep Lijnders advocates for Ben Woodburn to stay at Liverpool after impressive pre-season

Ben Woodburn has won himself quite a lot of fans at Liverpool with his impressive performances in the pre-season.

According to The Athletic, one of the is Jurgen Klopp's assistant manager Pep Lijnders who wants the 21-year-old to stay at the club.

However, there's acceptance of the fact that the forward might benefit from regular appearances more than from being down the pecking order at Liverpool.

It's been widely reported that Liverpool have an agreement in place with Hearts over a loan deal for Woodburn until January.

Ben Woodburn became the club's youngest ever goalscorer in 2016 when he found the net in an EFL Cup against Leeds United at the age of 17 years and 45 days. That remains his only goal for the Reds, though.
