Liverpool's predicted XI before transfer summer window vs Liverpool's actual XI - illustrated & compared

It was a sad transfer window for the Reds as they ended up signing just one player in Ibrahima Konate - the last 2 months were filled with endless rumours that ultimately led to nothing.

Back during the end of June, rumours were at their peak as the window had begun and Tribuna.com had illustrated how Liverpool's team would look like if the more reliable reports linking us with new signings came true.

Here's how that team looked -

Rumours based XI

Konate hasn't yet played a game for the Reds, but that's not really his fault as Joel Matip has been immense for the team. The young defender will get his chance sooner or later.

The strongest links for a Wijnaldum replacement were to Yves Bissouma from Brighton. Of course, the Reds never ended up sending in an official bid and no midfielder was signed.

Alexander Isak seemed like the ideal signing for Liverpool. Aged just 21, he would have been a perfect backup forward (as would have Donyell Malen or Patson Daka, whom we were linked with too). Eventually, Isak ended up staying with Real Sociedad.

And now that the window is over, here is how our team is likely to look for the remainder of the season:

Current Starting XI

The only difference is the addition of Konate. While Harvey Elliott has started the last two games, we expect Thiago Alcantara to get more of a starting role as the season progresses.

While the starting XI is really strong, you can't help but feel that the lack of a quality attacking option might hurt the Reds on a few occasions.
