Revealed: Liverpool were interested in Patson Daka but move didn't happen because of one key reason

As per the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool were interested in signing former Red Bull Salzburg forward Patson Daka this summer.

The Reds were linked with him by several sources - however, the deal never went through and he ended up joining Leicester City.

On his Here We Go podcast, the transfer insider revealed why the move collapsed: "Liverpool this summer had a strategy, sell players and then eventually sign players.

"If they sold Xherdan Shaqiri or Divock Origi in the first days of June then they had a chance to sign Patson Daka because they were interested in him."

Shaqiri was sold during the very last days of the window and Origi ended up staying. Therefore, no official bid was ever sent in.

Eventually, Liverpool ended the window without adding any attacker to the squad.
