And he's got a new nickname within the squad for his abilities, one bestowed upon him by none other than 

“Caoimh is like an octopus today!”, James Milner said after Kelleher had made a top reflex save during training in pre-season.

“It was quite a compliment, but the senior players are quite complimentary here,” Kelleher recalled to liverpoolfc.com.

“They’ll let you know if you’re doing well and that’s good because it boosts your confidence as well when you hear players of their stature giving you praise.”

Rabona, Spanish for 'skipping school', is a move that involves wrapping a leg behind the back of the standing leg and kicking the ball with it.

A rabona is normally used by attacking players to catch a keeper by surprise with an unexpected shot, or to confuse defenders while crossing or dribbling.

More often than not, a rabona is performed to demonstrate a player's superior skill.

Rabona is extremely rare in top-flight football, so when Spurs' Erik Lamela scored with a rabona kick in March this year, he was given the Premier League Goal of the Season award.

Defending players rarely produce rabonas in games; but keepers doing rabonas is simply unheard of.

So Kelleher's save technically qualifies as a rabona as he hit the ball with the leg that he crossed behind another leg.

What makes this rabona special is the circumstances in which it happened: a goalie making a penalty save using the technique.

"I’m not sure, to be honest, maybe instinct, I don’t know! I can’t even remember, to be honest. But maybe," Kelleher said after the game when asked if the movement of his legs was conscious.

No matter conscious or not, on Tuesday we witnessed arguably the most unusual rabona in the history of football, and it was performed by a Liverpool keeper.
