'It's criminal': Ex-PL player Paul Robinson explains why LFC might not sell 'ideal' Oxlade-Chamberlain

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a move away from Anfield and former Spurs man Paul Robinson has given his take on the situation.

“He’s too good not to be playing. It’s criminal,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“I cannot see Liverpool letting him go in January though. Salah and Mane are off to the African Cup of Nations and he is one of the players who can play in those wide positions.

“I cannot see Klopp being willing to let Oxlade-Chamberlain go for that reason. He gives them an option across the midfield and the front line.

“A player like that is going to be hard to replace. He is the ideal player.

“But, from the player’s point of view, he is too good to be sitting on the bench every week. He is not getting enough game time.

“The only situation I can see him leaving in January is if Liverpool signed a replacement first.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn't quite managed to establish himself with the Reds thanks to a multitude of injuries during his time with the club.

Ox is quite important to squad morale though, so it remains to be seen if he will be allowed to leave.
