'Wanting him back too early is insane': Passionate LFC fan urges others to manage expectations about Elliott return

Harvey Elliott suffered a horrific ankle injury against Leeds United but has since been sharing frequent, optimistic updates on his rehab.

This has Liverpool fans excited and discussing a possible early return for the youngster. But u/seemylolface on Reddit has pointed out why that's an issue.

The fan wrote: "We already know Elliott is outside, they posted pictures of him outside jogging.

"There's 0 evidence he's actually training with Milner/doing anything he'd be doing if he was close to returning, the tweet from Pearce just says he's outside and not with the group.

"I get wanting to be optimistic, but let's try to be a little bit realistic about the expectations at the same time.

"Playing by Christmas is just insane based on the injury and then factoring in all published info of where he's at in his recovery, and expecting/hoping for that will only end in disappointment.

"Maybe we get to see him towards the end of the season if he gets a bit lucky and that would be really great."

There is no chance Liverpool will rush the 18-year-old back into action.

As this fan states, letting him recover and hoping for a return early next year would be the best move.
