Rafael Benitez's job is as the Everton manager is hanging in the balance after his side was beaten 4-1 by Liverpool at Goodison Park.

On one hand, the club owner Farhad Moshiri issued a public vote of confidence in the Spaniard: "Rafa is a good manager and underperformance is largely due to the injuries.

"(In the) next two weeks, we will get to a full squad and, in the meantime, results will improve. Rafa needs time to have his mark on the squad. He will be supported to add depth to the squad. Managers need time."

On the other hand, betting companies believe that the ex-Liverpool boss is the likeliest manager in the Premier League to lose his job.

Betfair, for example, has drastically shortened the odds on this happening to 1/7.

For comparison, the next likeliest managers to be sacked are Brendan Rodgers (Leicester) and Ralph Hasenhuttl (Southampton), both at 11/2.

Benitez's chances to remain in the jo were not helped by the fact that only the away fans chanted his name during the derby at Goodison Park.
