Math model predicts Liverpool's likeliest opponents in Champions League Round of 16

Liverpool are most likely to draw Villarreal or Inter Milan in the Champions League Round of 16.

That is according to a math model by Julien Guyon, a quantitative researcher at Bloomberg.

As per the model, Liverpool have an 18.71% chance to face either of those sides at the next stage.

There's also a reasonably high chance the Reds will face PSG (17.86%). Salzburg (15.08%), Sporting and Benfica (both 14.82%) are less likely opponents, but the difference is too small.

Liverpool can not draw only two sides: Chelsea (two teams from the same division can only face each other starting from the quarter-final) and Atletico Madrid (as they were in the same group).

The draw will take place on Monday, December 13.
