Mohamed Salah included in final shortlist for FIFA's The Best Player of the Year award for 2021

 has been named in a three-man shortlist for FIFA's The Best Men's Player of the Year award for 2021.

 forward is joined on the list by the usual suspects, 

Salah is enjoying an exceptional season for the Reds, scoring 23 goals in 26 games across all competitions in the 2021/22 campaign.

Lewandowski has been scoring over a goal per game since the start of the 2020/21 campaign. Last season, he broke the 

 trophy since 1993 which helped him win his seventh Ballon d'Or.

The winner will be announced during a ceremony on January 17.

Egypt boss teases Ronaldo as he labels Salah best player in the world

 has been involved in more than 30 goals across all competitions this season, with half the campaign still remaining. He is currently with the Egypt squad as they aim to win their eighth AFCON title.

Egyptian national team manager Carlos Queiroz said at a press conference: "Probably you agree with me that in our team we have the best player on the planet at the moment."

"We are not going to AFCON to take a walk, we are going to win. To do that, we need a winning mentality," Carlos continued.

"Mohamed Salah has that and he can instil that in the team. He is the best player in the world right now, and with that comes belief and confidence.

"We are a team, not one player. We build a team. But we build it with the best player in the world included, and that brings the right mentality into the team."

Ronaldo has half of Salah's league goal tally this season (eight compared to 16) and while he remains one of the best players of all time, there is no doubting that Salah is better right now.

Mohamed Salah sets AFCON target as he sends message to Egypt fans 

 is one of the best players in the world, but he is yet to win anything at the international level - so, it's easy to guess what target he's set for himself and the Egyptian side for the African Cup of Nations.

's best result with Salah in the team was the 2017 AFCON final where they were defeated 2-1 by Cameroon.

This year, Egypt are one of the favourites as they remained unbeaten throughout the qualifying stages.

In the group stage, Salah's team will face Nigeria (January 11), Guinea-Bissau (January 15) and Sudan (January 19). The final is scheduled for February 6.
