Mohamed Salah included in final shortlist for FIFA's The Best Player of the Year award for 2021

Mohamed Salah has been named in a three-man shortlist for FIFA's The Best Men's Player of the Year award for 2021.

The Liverpool forward is joined on the list by the usual suspects, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski who finished first and second in the Ballon d'Or voting last December.

Salah is enjoying an exceptional season for the Reds, scoring 23 goals in 26 games across all competitions in the 2021/22 campaign.

Lewandowski has been scoring over a goal per game since the start of the 2020/21 campaign. Last season, he broke the Bundesliga record, scoring 41 goals for Bayern Munich.

As for Messi, he led Argentina to their first Copa America trophy since 1993 which helped him win his seventh Ballon d'Or.

The winner will be announced during a ceremony on January 17.
